NEWS: OMIO JOINS ONLINE TRAVEL UK
Omio has joined Online Travel UK (OTUK), the association of the UK’s best-known online travel companies, strengthening the coalition’s representation across the online travel sector.
Omio is the world’s leading multimodal travel platform, making complex journeys across modes, borders and operators easier to navigate and book. The platform connects travellers with more than 3,000 transport providers and offers bookable train, bus, flight and ferry travel across 50 markets. More than 50 million passengers travel with Omio each year.
Omio brings an international and multimodal perspective to OTUK, with first-hand experience of how travellers navigate transport systems around the world, including across Europe, the Americas and Asia, and how greater choice and connectivity can make travel work better.
As a member of OTUK, Omio will work alongside some of the UK’s best-known booking, metasearch and rail platforms. The coalition works with government, policymakers and regulators to advocate for an innovative, competitive and consumer-centric travel and tourism industry.
Catriona Meehan, Director of Public Affairs at Omio, says, “We’re delighted to be joining OTUK at a moment when the way people plan and book travel is changing fast. Travellers don’t think in silos. They want the freedom to compare their options and find the journey that works best for them, whether that’s by train, coach, plane or ferry.
“With major decisions ahead on how transport, digital markets and travel are regulated in the UK, it’s more important than ever that travellers continue to benefit from open markets, real choice and strong competition. But while those decisions may be made nationally, travel itself is increasingly international. People cross borders as readily as they move between travel modes, and the rules that shape the market need to recognise that reality. We look forward to bringing that perspective to OTUK to help ensure future decisions reflect the way people travel.”
Online Travel UK says, “Omio brings an important perspective to OTUK, with its expertise spanning multiple modes of transport and markets around the world.
“Online travel is continuing to evolve, both in how consumers discover and book their journeys and in the technology that makes travel easier and more accessible. Broadening our membership strengthens our collective expertise and ability to engage with policymakers on the issues shaping the future of travel, while championing consumer protection, choice, value and digital innovation.”
